Donald was born on May 10, 1944 to Raymond and Edna Yorkston in Everett, Washington.  He graduated from Everett High, Everett Junior College, and the University of Washington.  He worked for Scott Paper and Kimberly Clark Paper Companies as a mechanical engineer for 32 years before retiring in 2000.

Don passed away peacefully on January 3, 2010 surrounded by his family.

Don was a loving and faithful husband to Marie for 41 years, proud father of Daniel and James, happy father-in-law of JoAnne and Dani, and joyful grandpa of Brennan and Torsten.

In addition to his immediate family, Don is survived by his sister Barbara Cashen (John), step-sister Lucille Young, aunt Marie Whittaker, and numerous nieces and nephews.  Uncle Don was loved by all.

He was a devoted Christian, husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend.

Don enjoyed the outdoors through backpacking and skiing with his family, being a Boy Scout Leader, and bow hunting.  He was a skilled craftsman who built his own home and the furniture in it, as well as sailboats and kayaks.  He was a talented woodworker who could spend hours in his shop making chips on his lathe.  His happiest times were when he was surrounded by his family, playing with his grandsons, and of course long rides on his BMW motorcycle.

During his retired years, Don quietly participated in several mission trips which took him to Nome, Alaska, Tokyo, Japan, and Puerto Mont, Chile.

Don will be deeply missed by all those who knew him and never replaced.

A memorial service for Don was held on Monday, January 11, 2010 at 1:30 pm at the Everett First Covenant Church, 4502 Rucker Ave., Everett, WA 98203
